Received a request from Jim Gentry at 13:20 friday 13 04 2012, if I mind following up on a conversation he had with a Mr. Goupios. Apparently Mr. Goupios was complaining about his neighbor Mr. McNarir’s accessory building encroaching in the setback requirements. Mr. Goupios had made an agreement with his previous neighbor that he would plant trees because of the proximity of the accessory building so that would afford Mr. Goupios. Some privacy. Twenty years later the new owner Mr. McNarir wanted to cut the trees down and had proceeded to cut two of the trees with a view to cutting several more down on Monday morning. I went up to the address Friday afternoon to see if there were any obvious violations that I could see. I could not, so I advised Mr. Goupios to first try talking to his neighbor and advising him of the agreement that was made with the previous owner. If he couldn’t make any progress he would then have to have his property surveyed and then take him to civil court as boundary disputes between neighbors are civil matters and the County does not become involved. Monday morning at 9:23am on April 16 2012 Jim received a call from Mr. Goupios saying the issue had been resolved and his neighbor would not be cutting more trees down and thanking us for our time.
